About

Me: Hi! I’m Tom Dawkins, a 16-year-old Hobart based photographer with a strong passion for digital photography. I was originally born in Scotland, lived the first few years of my life there, before a quick stop in England and eventually making it to Tasmania in 2013. I’ve been lucky enough to call this Island home ever since. Alongside continuing my schooling (currently in year 11 at Hobart College) my interests outside of photography include aviation, motorsport, basketball and humanities.

My Photography: My experience in photography started in aviation photography, and I spent several years photographing and recording aircraft movements both at Hobart Airport and across Australia and Internationally. My interest in this area started to drop off in early 2025, and so I started using my camera to go for walks around Hobart suburbs, taking photos of anything and everything. This eventually led to me getting my first event photography opportunities through school, and in the back half of 2025 I shot Taroona High School’s music, art, science, and theatre events for them. I also started some other shooting work, photographing events for Youth ARC and the South Hobart Resilience Fair, as well as doing a macro shoot for the Maritime Museum. Amongst these and other opportunities, I have continued to do personal photography projects around the street, macro, night and portrait spaces, the last of which I’m starting to do on a more professional level as well.
